About Us

Youth for Social Welfare Nepal (YSWN) is non-government organization legally registered in District Administration Kaski and affiliated with Social Welfare Council. The organization is legally formed by energetic young members. Originally, the organization was formed in BS 2065, which is renamed as YSWN recently in 2067. YWSN was legally registered in District Administration Office on 13 August 2010, Affiliation with Social welfare council Nepal.The 1st General Meeting was held on 5 Feb.2011. Form that general meeting the 1st formation committee was selected as working committee. In that meeting the yearly program of YWSN were passed.

Organizational structure (Composition and diversity of general members, Executive Committee, and management structure)

The organization has a legal structure with the general assembly at the top then governing body (executive committee) membered by 7 in which 4 are male and 3 are female members and execution team to implement the programs and projects. The organization has two types of membership schemes; i.e. general and life member and certain fee is charged to becoming the member whether as a general member or life members. The executive committee is elected by the general members as per the constitution of the organization. The organization is based in Pokhara with its operational areas surrounding the municipality.

Brief history, work experience and description of major on-going activities

As stated earlier that the organization originally established as informal organization aiming at mainly to implement the awareness raising activities on societal related discrimination, social injustice, inequalities and at the same time providing scholarship package to young people so as to enable them to continue their education. Awareness raising activities were conducted and five children were offered scholarship to continue the education in Pokhara schools as they were very poor background. Likewise, blood donation event was also conducted in the presence of quite large number of people wishing to donate blood for the well being in society.
